CGSA uses CISD’s birthday eligibility for grades as cut-off for age divisions. However, the Amateur Softball Association of America (ASA) uses a calendar year i.e. (1/1 – 12/31) cut-off for determining their divisions. CGSA uses the grade based cut-off to allow girls in the same grade to play together in the same division. However, this results in girls born between 9/1 – 12/31 playing below their ASA age division. Parents may request their daughter play their ASA age division by noting in the “NOTES” field of the registration form to “play ASA age”. For example; if your daughter was born on 9/24/03 under CGSA’s divisions she would qualify for 7U; however she would be 8U if playing under ASA eligibility guidelines. If any questions; please contact the CGSA Registrar at Registrar@coppellgirlssoftball.com. 4) Does a girl have to move up to the next age division if her team moves up but she is still eligible for her previous age division? No, she does not have to move up. If she is not ready to move up and is STILL eligible for the lower age division she may remain. Please select the unassigned team option and she will be assigned to a new team. 5) Can girls return to their fall 2011 teams? The spring team is the primary team for CGSA; however, girls may request to return to their fall 2011 team subject to roster availability and meeting age division requirements. To request the fall 2011 team please register for the “Unassigned” group in your daughter’s age division and select “Request to return to fall team” during registration. Players who started playing in fall 2011; should do the same if they want to return to their fall 2011 team or they can request to be placed on a new team. 6) Can I play with a friend? New players & former players who have not played in 2 consecutive seasons may request a team with a current player of same age. Two new players of same age may request to be on the same team. Submit request via Friends with Friends (FwF) option during registration. Subject to roster availability & meeting age requirements. 7) Can we form a new team with friends? Yes, girls that have not played previously can ALL request to be placed on a team together. So get your friends from girl scouts, soccer or any other group together and form a new team. Please contact CGSA Registrar if any questions. Subject to approval by the CGSA Registrar. 8) What is interlock? Majority of the games will be played in Coppell and at Bakersfield Park in Flower Mound. 9) What are the fees? If you register by 1/15/12, fee is $75 for Coppell/CISD residents & $95 for all others.
